Tips for Beautiful Lips in Your 40’s, 50’s and Older

By

What are the first two things you notice on other people’s faces? I bet you answered eyes and lips. We covered the eyes (Eyeshadow, Eyeliner, Mascara links below), so lets talk about lips.

Very few women are happy with their lips, they are either two thin, two thick or not shape nicely. That is where lip color comes in handy, besides helping brighten your face, you can reshape your lips “a little”.

When women hit their 40’s, it is a good idea to use lip liner pencil. Lip liner pencils contain a lot of wax which helps prevent the moist lip color and gloss from spreading past your lip line. Which can be a problem as we get older and those pesky little lines form around the edge of the lips.

Try to use lip pencils that are as close as possible to your lip colors you wear, without going dark.

When using a lip pencil carefully, use short strokes to line your upper and then lower lip line. If your lips are thin, apply the pencil just barely on the outside of the natural lip line, nothing too drastic.

Then apply your lip color within the lip pencil. Make sure to add a touch of lip gloss that will give your lips some shine and help soften the look of any lines on the lips.

Some women swear by lip brushes. Dabbing the lip brush over the lip color then brushing the color on your lips makes for a smooth application and nice finish to your lips.

To help keep your lips smooth and moist, exfoliate your lips with a scrub of olive oil and sugar, gently scrub your lips, rinse with warm water and pat dry. At bedtime apply vitamin E oil on your lips to keep them from getting chapped and dry. It is also a good habit when not wearing lip color to keep your lips moist by using a lip balm or vitamin E on your lips.

Burt’s Bee makes a great line of lip moisturizers and they come in very pretty colors. They have a mint taste that feel good on your lips and leaves your lips feeling soft.
